Film and theater actor Jake Macapagal will soon be seen on the HBO Asia original series Halfworlds.
Macapagal, who received international attention for his role in the award-winning and British Academy Film and Television Arts-nominated “Metro Manila” by British filmmaker Sean Ellis, will join the second season of the network’s dark action fantasy series.
HBO announced the 8-part season two of Halfworlds will take place in Bangkok and Batam and will premiere in the last quarter of the year on HBO Asia’s on-air, online and on-demand platforms.
Before being cast in the international series, Macapagal essayed roles in international productions such as Miss Saigon Germany and UK, and Philippine productions of Les Miserables, among other notable performances.
The Filipino actor has been on several acclaimed independent cinema productions such as Chateau de Rozesu, Doble Vista, Posas, Pandanggo, and Compound. He recently finished filming CineFilipino’s “Buhay Habang Buhay” directed by Paolo Herras, together with Iza Calzado and Meryll Soriano.
Halfworlds season two where Macapagal is set to appear on is described as the widening of the universe established in the first season, “shifting from the back alleys of Jakarta, to the neon streets of Bangkok, where a tenacious researcher named Juliet is trying to uncover the secret world of demons that live among us, while looking for an ancient artefact of great power.”
