Intramuros Administration (IA) is holding its “FREEdom at the Walled City” Festival to mark the nation’s 121st Philippine Independence Day.
The big Intramuros event gives tourists and locals free and discounted access to the historical sites and events inside the walled city.
IA says the festival aims for the public “to learn more about our country’s rich heritage and history” as the Philippines observes its 121st anniversary of the declaration of independence from Spanish colonizers.
The Intramuros Administration announced on social media the various offerings today.
Here are the museums opening their doors for one day free access:
- Fort Santiago (8AM to 6PM)
- Museo de Intramuros (9AM to 5PM)
- Bahay Tsinoy (1PM to 5PM)
- Manila Cathedral (Open House/Guided Tours: 10AM and 3PM)
- Destileria de Limtuaco Museum (9AM to 6PM)

Liquor tasting at Destileria de Limtuaco Museum is only for Php 100.
Bagumbayan Lights & Sound Museum, on the other hand, offers 50% discounts on its entrance fee for one day.
The “We Art Intramuros Freedom Bazaar” with more than 40 arts and crafts concessionaires participating is open from 9AM to 6PM at Plaza Roma, in front of Manila Cathedral.
Those who wish to join “Free Photo Walks” all around Intramuros may register at Plaza Roma starting 9AM.

Visitors and tourists can bring their bikes, scooters and pets since General Luna St. is car-free and available for strolling from 9AM to 6PM.
Bambike Ecotours located at the Plaza San Luis Complex also offers limited slots for free Bambike rentals until June 13 from 9AM to 5PM.
If free slots are all booked, Bambike Ecotours offers reservation of the Bambike for only Php 100.

The entries for 24-hour filmmaking competition will be showcased in the “We Are Intramuros Short Film Festival” at Teatro inside the Fort Santiago.
The free film screening are scheduled at 9AM, 11AM, 1PM and 3PM. Walk-ins are welcome.
Intramuros Administration is also giving away limited edition Intramuros Beep Card for free at the Puerta Real Gardens where “We Are Intramuros Music Festival” will be held starting 5PM.
The free music festival is a collaborative project of AI, Manila Bulletin and Ilustrado. The music project promotes Intramuros as a prime location for music festivals to support Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

The whole day event is the biggest celebration hosted by the Intramuros Administration for Independence Day.
