The ice carving champions, Team Baisas, earned another world recognition for their skills and talent this time from the prestigious Boardwalk Whyte on Ice in Alberta.
Filipino brothers Ross and Antonio Baisas gained a spot in the Top 3 of the Ice on Whyte Festival with their entry of an ice dinosaur titled “Roarrr!!!”
Team Baisas, originally wood carvers from Paete Laguna – known to be the Woodcarving Capital of the Philippines – together with Ross’ wife Marites and Antonio’s wife Maria Elena had recently won top prize from the 1st International Snow Sculpting Competition held as part of Snow Days in Banff.
The Baisas brothers carried both the Philippines’ and Canadian flags when they competed against international champions from Russia, China, the Netherlands, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, and Latvia to gain the recognition in what is known as the Canada Cup of Ice Carving.
