Filipino-Italian-Canadian actor Marco Grazzini stars as the leading man in the original Lifetime TV movie “Lonestar Christmas” which premiered this holiday season.
Grazzini stars in the romantic film with Canadian actress Stephanie Bennett who plays the character of Erin, a single mom who unexpectedly falls in love with a local restaurant owner while learning to forgive her father for the past.
In a media interview, film and television actor Marco Grazzini shared that he was glad to finally play a part that celebrated his Filipino heritage.
“I have to thank the producers and the writers for including that because it wasn’t in the original script. They were ever so kind to include it for me. It was the first time that I’ve actually played a Filipino on screen. So that was an honor and it’s nice to see the real world reflected on our screens,” he told Yong Chavez, Hollywood TV correspondent for ABS-CBN News.
Marco Grazzini, the half-Italian, half-Filipino male lead of “Lonestar Christmas” started his career in the Philippines. He once starred in a local TV commercial and won a modeling contest in the country when he was in his 20s.
The 15-year film and television veteran is known for his roles on “Kim’s Convenience”, ” The Magicians”, and “The Flash”. Grazzini recently joined the regular cast of the Netflix series “Virgin River” in its second season.
Grazzini is also the leading man in the Lifetime TV holiday special, “Christmas Unwrapped” with American actress Amber Stevens West.
Other actors in Hollywood who have played Filipino characters include Jon Jon Briones who is playing the lead role of a Filipino doctor in Netflix’s psychological-horror drama series, “Ratched” and 4-time Best Actor winner Darren Criss who plays the role of Filipino-American film director Raymond Ainsley in “Hollywood”.
