The 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is being celebrated with golden anniversary commemorative stamps issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost).
The new Philippine stamp bears the design of graphic Artist Irma Jane C. Junio featuring the digital rendition of the iconic facade and fountain of the CCP which still stands at the CCP Complex in Pasay City, Manila.
The commemorative stamp honors the CCP as the national center of arts and culture promotion in the country since its September 8, 1969 inauguration.
“Since then, it has been the home to many gems of Philippine art. The CCP has housed acclaimed productions in music, theater and dance, iconic works of art, great artists, and irreplaceable resources on Philippine culture and history.
“The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is considered as the national center for the arts. It has launched initiatives showcasing excellent art forms, the bolstering of art education and art appreciation.
“Throughout its 50 years of existence, the CCP has stimulated the creation of artistic content now considered as pillars of Philippine art. Its programs include Production and Exhibition, Arts Education, Outreach and Exchange, and Culture Content Development,” says PHLPost in its official presentation of the CCP stamps.
PHLPost has printed 30,000 copies of the commemorative stamp which are being sold at Php12 each.
The stamp and official first-day covers of the commemorative 50th anniversary of CCP are now available at the Philatelic Counter, Manila, and Metro Manila Post Offices.
The CCP’s ongoing celebrations of its golden anniversary this 2019 has been marked with its use of its own Baybayan Philippine script font, the stagings of Noli Me Tangere The Opera, launch of the PPO’s new concert season, the holding of the 1st Manila International Performing Arts Summit, and the Pasinaya Festival.
This December, Tanghalang Pilipino stages the Ilocano epic Lam-Ang, while the CCP building displays its new lights and sounds show throughout the holidays. The CCP is also currently innovating with a new 21st-century museum.
The PHLPost has celebrated milestones for Filipinos and the Philippines, among them, Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s winning moment and Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach’s iconic win, and 100 years of Philippine cinema.
SEND congratulations in the comments below to CCP and the PHLPost for marking Philippine milestones!
