‘The Atom Araullo Specials’, GMA Network’s multi-awarded bi-monthly documentary program, has gained international recognition anew at the 2024 Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards.
The Philippine television network’s public affairs program won the Silver Dolphin Award for Human Concerns and Social Issues with its ‘Hingang Malalim (One Deep Breath)’ episode. First aired in 2023, the award-winning Filipino documentary tells the story of Tatay Bulloh, a pearl diver in Sulu in Southern Philippines who risks his life to find pearls at the bottom of the sea to earn and support his family.
Multi-awarded broadcast journalist and documentarist Atom Araullo received the trophy on September 27 during the awards ceremony of the 15th edition of the international festival in France. Araullo shared the good news on social media.
“Yahoo! The Atom Araullo Specials: Hingang Malalim wins a Silver Dolphin! TAAS: Batas Bata is also a finalist this year. Congrats to the whole team! [Dolphin and Partying Face Emojis],” the Kapuso news personality wrote on Facebook.
In March 2024, ‘The Atom Araullo Specials: Hingang Malalim’ won the silver medal for the Philippines at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards under the Documentary: Human Concerns category.
