Filipino-American model and activist Geena Rocero makes history as she becomes one of the first two transgender models featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
Geena Rocero and Tracey Africa Norman – the first black transgender model who rose to fame in the late ’70s – are part of the nine-person multi-cover series of Harper’s Bazaar India, joining the likes of “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks and Korean model Soo Joo Park, among others.
Nymag.com noted that this is the first time that transgender models appeared on the cover of an edition of Harper’s Bazaar.
Last May, Rocero was recognized at an event in New York for her advocacy on transgender rights and equality.
Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner previously said that Rocero was one of her sources of inspiration at the time she came out as a transgender woman.
