Here is the full list of the 2022 Cinemalaya Film Festival winners awarded on-site at the Main Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) as the annual independent film festival went back to live staging after two years of online editions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 18th Cinemalaya with the theme “Breaking Through the Noise” gave out 21 awards to Filipino full-feature independent films and short films during the closing ceremony held at the CCP on August 14.
The films can be viewed by the public in select Ayala Malls and SM Cinemas in Metro Manila, Baguio, Clark in Pampanga, Dasmarinas in Cavite, and Legaspi in Albay, until Tuesday, August 16. The CCP Vimeo account is scheduled to screen the films from October 17 to 31.

Cinemalaya also revealed the finalists for the 2023 Cinemalaya to be staged in Mindanao.
Cinemalaya 18 opened with the screening of SUNDANCE Film Festival Winner of the Jury Award for Spirit of Innovation “Leonor Will Never Die (Ang Pagbabalik ng Kwago)” on August 5. The film directed by Martika Ramirez Escobar is a Cinemalaya 2020 and 2015 awardee.
The 2022 Cinemalaya wrapped up with the screening of internationally-awarded documentaries DELIKADO by Karl Malakunas, and We Don’t Dance For Nothing by Stefanos Tai. The films were screened at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) on August 13.
Since 2005, Cinemalaya has supported and promoted the production of Filipino full feature independent films and short films. Many of these films have won awards in local and international competitions and festivals. Through the annual festival, Cinemalaya has showcased over 1,000 works by independent filmmakers including full feature films, shorts, documentaries, Filipino film classics, and art films.
The Cinemalaya festival continued in 2020 with its first all-digital festival and in 2021 with the online screening of films and announcing short film winners through its online platforms.
