In this episode of #BlogtalkHollywood, MJ Racadio interviews Tootsie Guevara, the OPM Diva who has turned into a Health Care Executive in the U.S.
About Tootsie
Born and raised in the Philippines. At the young age of 9, Tootsie won the Yamaha Music Mate singing competition as the grand champion. She was the youngest contestant to win the singing competition. She was then discovered by a top music executive of Vicor Records and was offered a record deal. Vicor Records then released Tootsie’s very first long play Album “Tootsie” with the carrier single “Kinabukasan Ko.”
In 1990, she joined the famous youth-oriented show of German Moreno aka “Kuya Germs” That’s Entertainment under GMA Channel 7.
In 1996, she signed up with Star Records and released her album “Really Wanna Tell You” with the carrier hit single “Pasulyap-sulyap”. It garnered gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards. Followed by other albums and hit songs – Kaba, Mahal Ka Sa Akin, Sabi Na Nga Ba, Nang Dahil Sa Pag Ibig, Pangako Ko Sa’yo, Mr. Kupido and many more. All albums garnered gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards under Star Records.
Tootsie also dabbled in acting and played villain roles in soap operas – “Habang Kapiling Ka” and “Kahit Kailan” with GMA Channel 7.
Despite her hectic showbiz schedule from recording studios, T.V. shows, soap opera tapings, mall tours, and U.S. travels doing concerts, she was determined to finish her college degree. She graduated BS in Hotel, Restaurant & Management at St. Paul University Philippines. Graduated in the top 20 of her senior year in college and achieved the Thesis Awardee.
In 2004, Tootsie moved to the U.S. to join her immediate family living in California. She ventured into real estate and became a Realtor for a few years. She switched gears and fell in love with the healthcare industry. She started as a Marketing Manager in an In-Home Care Service Company.
