Filipino fashion designer Francis Libiran and his creations once again appeared on the pioneering fashion-television reality show, America’s Next Top Model (ANTM).
Libiran’s fashion collection titled “Creatures of the Night” was shown on ANTM’s Cycle 22 Episode 12 in early November as part of the final challenge for the show’s top 5 finalists.
ANTM top finalist male models Devin Clark, Nyle DiMarco and Mikey Heverly appeared as “hunters” in heavy layered plaid and boots. Female model finalists Mamé Adjei and Lacey Rogers were presented as “the hunted” in silk chiffon layers.
“It’s about conceptualizing with really bright colors like red, yellow, cobalt blue, tone on tone, and creating beaded details that’s more creature-like. [For the girls,] hindi siya (it’s not) elegant like floral prints; it’s more exaggerated, I want it to be flowy,” Libiran says in a release.
“To be part of this legendary TV show for the second time is, again, an honor not only for me, but also for the Philippines,” Libiran said. “We got so thrilled and excited when we got the call from Tyra’s team. It was a surreal experience as it is an honor and privilege to represent Filipino talent and artistry in such an international and well-respected platform as ‘America’s Next Top Model’.”
The celebrated local designer first appeared on the show in 2012 where he presented his Hello Kitty couture collection. The collection was exhibited at the Japanese American National Museum earlier in May.
