Filipino restaurants are displaying the Pinoy Bayanihan spirit while sending free food to healthcare workers who have been on code red alert since last week due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
Free breakfast, food packs, food snacks were sent by different food outlets to hospital workers as part of their support to the frontliners in the battle against the coronavirus disease.
Rue Bourbon Restaurant, Kanto Freestyle Breakfast, Zark’s Burger, and SM supermalls were some of the outlets that have already sent food to doctors, nurses, hospital aides, and staff.
Rue Bourbon Restaurant sent food to St. Luke’s Medical Center ER staff.
In return, St. Luke’s Medical Center thanked Rue Bourbon Restaurant.
“Our heartfelt thanks goes to Rue Bourbon Restaurant for sending food to our ER staff. This simple act of kindness means a lot to our healthcare workers. This gesture reflects how their efforts are valued at their difficult times.”
Netizen Vincent Juanta posted that Kanto Freestyle Breakfast “are sending some food packs to nearby hospitals, through Transportify, for the doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff, as a way of thanking them for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of our community amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Salute!”
Zark’s Burger sent burgers to nearby hospitals as a way to thank them for tirelessly and selflessly ensuring everyone’s safety amid COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Pino Restaurant, Pipino Veg, and Pi Breakfast & Pies had earlier offered free and unlimited brewed coffee to East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, V. Luna Medical Center, and the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Earlier today at 5 p.m., Filipinos across the nation paused their activities to simultaneously applaud health workers for two minutes, in a symbolic action to thank the frontliners in the battle against COVID-19.
The Pinoy Bayanihan spirit was also displayed in January to February 2020 as volunteers provided assistance to thousands of residents and workers displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas.
In December 2019, as the Philippines hosted the 30th SEA Games, the Bayanihan spirit was again evident as private groups and individuals volunteered to assist in its hosting duties.
