Filipino karateka James De Los Santos is unstoppable as he once again raised the Philippine colors in his latest tournament after his winning the gold medal at the Balkan Open E-Tournament.
With his newest first-place finish, the Filipino athlete is eyeing the top 1 spot in the virtual Kata World rankings.
“CLAIMED MY THIRD VIRTUAL GOLD!” De Los Santos posted on his Facebook on August 4, 2020, that came with his photos and performance video.
The country’s bet participated under the E-kata individual male senior category and first defeated players from Slovenia during Round 16, then Morocco during the quarterfinals, and Spain at the semifinals of the online competition held from July 23 to August 2.
During the finals, the 2017 Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist faced and bested his opponent from South Africa to win the gold for the Philippines.
“I faced South Africa in the final round using my favorite kata Unsu, and snagged the gold,” De Los Santos said.
The Filipino karateka also revealed that he is eyeing the claim the top 1 spot at the Virtual Kata Rankings where he is currently ranked at Top 3.
“This tournament also adds points to the virtual kata world rankings. I’m doing my best to go after the number 1 spot,” De Los Santos shared.
“For the love of the game; keep that fire burning. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” he added.
The Pinoy karate star has been consistently reaping honors for the country at various virtual international tilts while the world is under lockdown and physical sporting events are restricted to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Just last month, De Los Santos snagged silver at the Adidas Karate World Open Series 2020.
The national athlete also won a bronze at the 1st Dutch Open E-Tournament and gold at the E-Tournament Korokotta Cup in June.
