Filipino jins successfully raised the country’s flag in Vietnam by winning a total of 13 medals, including 6 golds, from the 2019 Asian Taekwondo Open Championships.
The Philippine Taekwondo Team harvested 6 golds, 3 each in kyorugi (free sparring) and poomsae (forms), 1 silver and 6 bronze medals in the international tourney held from August 16 to 18 at the Sports Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
Team Philippines competed against martial arts fighters from 21 countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and more.
Cebuana jins Rinna Bobanto, Aidaine Laxa, and Joce Lyn Ninobla, who previously won gold at the Open International Taekwondo Championships in Korea, bagged the bronze in Vietnam.

The Philippine Taekwondo team is preparing to compete in the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games scheduled on December 7 to 9 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The Filipino jins’ fruitful campaign at the taekwondo championships in Vietnam adds to the triumph of Team Philippines at the 2019 Shinhan World Peace Taekwondo Festival in South Korea where the Pinoys won 87 medals.
Filipino kids also brought pride to the country at the 2019 Taekwondo Color Belt Kyorugi and Hanmadang Championships in Hong Kong with their 10 medals.
