The Archangel’s Journey Chorale, a church-based Filipino choir, recently soared to new heights at the 6th Cantata Macau International Choir Festival and Competition, clinching the coveted Grand Prix title. This victory marks a significant achievement for the choir, hailing from the St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in CAMANAVA, comprising Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela.
In a stunning display of musical prowess, the 30-member chorale dominated the competition, securing the championship along with four major accolades. They emerged as Gold Medalists and Category Winners in Sacred, Folklore, and Open competitions, also bagging the Best Conductor award. This impressive feat was achieved at the prestigious festival held from December 1-3, 2023, marking its first on-site event post-pandemic hiatus.
The choir’s journey to the top was marked by a series of outstanding performances. In the Grand Prix round, their repertoire included “Doxologia” by Ily Matthew Maniano, “Noypi” by Bamboo, and “Tikong Tiko” by Ruben Federizon, showcasing their versatile musical range. Their path to victory included winning performances in Sacred Music, Folklore Music, and the Open category, featuring a blend of traditional and contemporary pieces.
The choir’s conductor, Brayan Listher Resusta, was honored with the Best Conductor award, further highlighting the group’s exceptional talent. Resusta, a scholar of the Online Choral Leadership Program, has played a pivotal role in steering the choir to international recognition.
