Filipino cager Thirdy Ravena has offered to help assist the training camp of Olympics-bound Filipino boxer Eumir Felix Marcial.
The third national athlete to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics shared on social media the message offering assistance that he received from the Japan-based Ravena.
Thirdy Ravena, the first Asian import to Japan’s Basketball League, sent the following message to Eumir Marcial:
“Boss, kamusta. Sana ay okay yung training camp mo ngayon. Nakita ko yung post mo sa social media. Gusto ko lang sana itanong kung puwede makitulong sa mga pangangailangan niyo,” part of Ravena’s message read according to the middleweight fighter. “Gusto ko manalo kayo ng team nyo.”
Marcial praised Ravena for understanding the needs and sacrifices of fellow athletes representing the Philippines and expressed his hope that sports leaders and enthusiasts will follow suit.
“I received this message days ago from one of the phenomenal athletes in the Philippines. The only person who can understand us most/better is our fellow athletes, and who understands our sacrifices for the country. I hope that idol @3rd_e Ravena will become an inspiration and will influence other Filipino athletes to help one another in different ways. I also wish that it can influence sports lovers and most especially our sports leaders. Mabuhay ka idol!! Mabuhay ang atletang Pilipino. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas,” Marcial posted on
May 16, 2021.
Eumir Marcial recently turned professional while continuing to train for the Summer Olympics scheduled this July in Japan on a mission to win the country’s first-ever Olympics gold.
The Philippines’ official delegation includes pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnast Carlos Yulo, boxers Eumir Marcial, Irish Magno, Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, and rower Cris Nievarez.
