Bagamasbad competed in New Zealand for the 2022 edition of the Asian Seniors tournament and was declared champion in the Over 65 category.
The 66-year-old Bagamasbad flew to Auckland to play in the tourney from October 14-22 and finished with an outstanding performance of 7.5/9 from 6 wins, 3 draws, 0 loss, to earn a gold medal, an International Master title, one Grandmaster norm, and USD350.
Bagamasbad is a Senior player in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines championship team of Laguna Heroes.
