Filipino American professional cyclist Coryn Rivera has won the final stage of the 2021 Giro Donne tournament in Italy.
Team Sunweb’s Rivera emerged victorious on the 113km-stage in Italy’s far northeast for her first tournament win since the 2019 Manhattan Beach Grand Prix.
Referring to herself as an American purebred Filipino, 28-year-old Fil-Am champion athlete credited the win to her father who had recently passed away due to Covid-19.
“[My dad] was watching me from above, and that was for my dad,” Rivera said at the finish line on July 11. “I feel really strong and I have a lot of motivation, I had an angel on my shoulder today.”
Coryn Rivera is a United States National Champion and has won the Women’s Tour in Great Britain and the RideLondon Classique. The pro cyclist is set to compete at the Tokyo Olympics as part of Team U.S.A.
