Filipino-American Jason Tengco has been named the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s White House Liaison.
Tengco was among the appointees announced on January 25, 2021, who will work at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) of the Biden-Harris Administration.
The OPM serves as the chief human resources agency and personnel policy manager for the Federal Government.
As White House Liaison, Jason Tengco will provide staff support to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and senior-level Department officials on policy and other operational matters.
The Fil-Am Jason Tengco recently served as the Chief of Staff for the Biden-Harris campaign’s Coalitions Department. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations, National AAPI Outreach Director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, and Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on AAPIs.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jason Tengco graduated from UCLA with honors with a B.A. in Political Science. Tengco also has a Master’s in Public Affairs from the University of California, Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy.
The OPM said its team of political appointees reflects the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to diversity, “with more than 85% of OPM First Week appointees identifying as people of color, women, or LGBTQ.”
Additional members of the Biden-Harris appointee team will be named in the following weeks.
The Outstanding Filipinos in America (TOFA) earlier recognized Jason Tengco, who was previously the coalition’s chief of staff for Joe Biden, now the president of the United States. Other TOFA awardees include Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Martin Nievera, Broadway royalty Lea Salonga, and boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, among others.
