Spanish-born Filipina actress Alexandra Masangkay is playing the role of Miharu in Netflix’s hit film ‘The Platform’ or El Hoyo, a science fiction horror-thriller film.
The award-winning film from Spain premiered on Netflix on March 20, 2020. @elhoyolapelicula reported on Instagram that it became the Top movie among the 10 top movies streamed online in the U.S.
Alexandra posted on Instagram a photo of her wearing her costume with co-actor Zorion Egileor. “I am overwhelmed by the way you guys embraced “el Hoyo”. Thank you. With the one and only Trimagasi,” she wrote in the caption.
Netizens congratulated Alexandra and expressed their love for the movie.

Alexandra Masangkay is also known for appearing in the 2016 Spanish war drama film, “1898: Our Last Men in the Philippines” directed by Salvador Calvo, where Filipino actor Raymond Bagatsing plays a pivotal role.
Masangkay is reportedly born in Barcelona, Spain, with both her parents originally from Batangas province in the Philippines.
Aside from being an actress, she is also a singer-songwriter, model and has skills in Basic guitar, Hip-hop / Funky dance, Drawing, and Photography.
Netflix films have featured Filipinos in their films and series, among the Philippines’ first Filipina Miss Universe, Gloria Diaz, who made a cameo appearance in the second season of “Insatiable.” while Fil-Am Hollywood singer-actress Vanessa Hudgens joined Mads Mikkelsen in the action-adventure movie, Polar – Netflix’s film adaptation of the Dark Horse graphic novel “Polar: Came from the cold” written and illustrated by Victor Santos.
Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon also shed his Spiderman buddy persona to take on the role of Filipino in the Netflix Christmas movie, “Let It Snow”. Netflix also featured Filipino-American Jo Koy’s self-produced comedy special that is riding the boom in televised stand-up comedy.
