Filipina actress-singer Frencheska Farr has won the Outstanding Dramatic Actress award for her lead role in the short film “Harana” at The Micheaux Film Festival recently held in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Farr shared news of her latest achievement via Instagram on May 3, 2021, thanking her director and the team behind “Harana,” which won in the Outstanding Music category at the third edition of the annual film festival.
“Beyond grateful 🙂 Here’s me celebrating and basking in this wonderful awesome and inspiring moment 🙏🏽 What an amazing experience! #Harana was awarded Outstanding Music and I won Outstanding Dramatic Actress at the #micheauxfilmfestival!!!” Frencheska Farr wrote.
The Pinay actor also shared a photo of her Outstanding Dramatic Actress trophy, which she dedicated “to the Filipino people and everyone fighting the good fight” in her message to fans on social media.
“This is dedicated to the Filipino people and everyone fighting the good fight. Keep shining your light! Beyond grateful. I LOVE YOU ALL,” Farr added.
The 2020 short film “Harana” is directed by Marie Jamora and follows Maya (Farr), a cover band singer in a Las Vegas hotel and casino trying to connect with her daughter who is growing up in the Philippines without her.
The Micheaux Film Festival is a multicultural film festival that focuses on Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) creators, and celebrates diverse representation in the entertainment landscape.
Filipino actors who have been honored for their leading roles include Kit Thompson who was recently declared Best Actor at the recently concluded 54th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival and Isabel Sandoval who won the Best Actress award in Vladivostok, Russia.
