TBA Studios was the first to share news of Gutierrez’s latest achievement via social media on August 7, 2021.

The Kapamilya actress was recognized for her lead role in the Filipino film, “Dito at Doon” (Here and There) directed by JP Habac.

“We would like to congratulate our very own @janinegutierrez on winning the Rising Star Award at the New York Asian Film Festival 2021!” TBA Studios announced on Twitter.

Gutierrez earlier starred in “Babae at Baril” which was selected as the opening film for the 2020 New York Asian Film Festival.

Now on its 20th year, the NYAFF returns as a hybrid event with its largest film lineup to date and will screen over 60 films until August 22, 2021.

The New York Asian Film Festival Awards has previously honored Filipino actor John Lloyd Cruz as an Asian Star and teen actress Teri Malvar with the 3rd Screen International Rising Star Asia Award.
