Filipino Canadian drag performer Kimmy Couture has made history by being the first Pinay queen to reach the finale of Canada’s Drag Race, the country’s franchise of the popular reality competition, RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The contestant from Ottawa, Ontario joins three other finalist drag queens Miss Fiercalicious, Gisèle Lullaby, and Jada Shada Hudson in the grand finals show on September 8, 2022.
Kimmy Couture’s making it to the finale is the first time for a Filipina drag queen in the show’s history. Kimmy is the third Filipina to compete on Canada’s Drag Race, following Stephanie Prince and Kyne who both finished in the top ten in their respective seasons.
Kimmy is also the first openly transgender woman in the competition and the third transgender woman to join Canada’s Drag Race, after Ilona Verley and Eve 6000.
“I want to be the first trans woman to win Canada’s Drag race,” Kimmy said in her video introduction to Canada’s Drag Race.

In an Instagram post, Kimmy said, “I love them all so much. Any of us are worthy of the crown … The best sisters I could ask for.”
