Filipino American TikTok star Bella Poarch is marking her transition to the music industry by landing the cover of Cosmopolitan’s first-ever music issue.
The TikTok star-turned-musician who recently won the Social Star Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards swiftly rose to internet fame on the video-sharing site TikTok with her lip sync videos. She is now the platform’s third most-followed person with over 88 million followers as of this writing.
The Fil-Am influencer is now featured on the cover of the magazine’s first music issue to be released this March 2022 as she makes her mark on the music industry following her record-breaking debut single, Build a B*tch.
Cosmopolitan Magazine’s 2022 Music Issue also features an exclusive interview with cover star Bella Poarch who talks about her Pinoy roots, her love for music, and more.
Born in the Philippines, Bella was raised at first by her grandmother, then her adoptive parents. Bella’s family later moved to the United States where she graduated high school early and also joined the Navy.
Asked about the people who inspire her in the interview, Bella answered that Filipina Broadway star Lea Salonga who sang the Disney theme “Reflection” for the animated series Mulan, inspired her to sing and launch her music career.
“Lea Salonga, who is a Filipino singer. She was the voice on ‘Reflection,’ a song I grew up with that inspired me to sing. I want to tell her, ‘I’m literally your song,'” Bella Poarch told Cosmopolitan magazine in the interview.
Bella also told the magazine that she was proud of her Filipino roots and acknowledged her Pinoy fans for their support.
“The thing about Filipinos is if they find out that you are Filipino, they will support you because you’re representing the country. When I found out that Olivia Rodrigo was Filipino, I was so proud,” Poarch adds.
