Filipino-American singer H.E.R. has earned a Golden Globes nomination for the song “Fight For You,” from the soundtrack of the upcoming film “Judas and the Black Messiah”.
“Fight For You” was penned by the R&B sensation for the biographical drama focused on the 1969 shooting of African-American activist and Illinois Black Panther Party member Fred Hampton.
H.E.R. was named a nominee in the Best Original Song – Motion Picture category of the 78th Golden Globe Awards which virtually announced its official nominations on February 3, 2021.
H.E.R. shared the good news on social media.
“CAN’T BELIEVE I’M A GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! WHAT A BLESSING!!!!!” H.E.R. wrote in an Instagram post.
Two-time Grammy-winner H.E.R. will be up against English soul singer Celeste for “Hear My Voice” from Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7. Other nominees include Raphael Saadiq and Andra Day for “Tigress & Tweed” from The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Leslie Odom Jr. for “Speak Now” from One Night In Miami, and Laura Pausini’s “Io Si (Seen)” from The Life Ahead.
The 2021 Golden Globes ceremony will take place on February 28, 2021, hosted by Hollywood actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
H.E.R. is also set to perform “America The Beautiful” at the Super Bowl 55 this February.
The Fil-Am singer-songwriter won two golden gramophones at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019. H.E.R. has bagged honors at the MTV Video Music Awards for her powerful single ‘I Can’t Breathe’ and has already received 3 Grammy nominations this 2021.
