Ferro bagged back-to-back wins in the BroadwayWorld Regional Awards for his performance as John N. Fail in Oil Lamp Theater’s “Failure: A Love Story”.
The Chicago theater actor bested runners-up Jami Johnson (The Elephant in the Room), Stephen Pickering (You Can’t Take It With You), and Brooke Mummert (Brighton Beach Memoirs).
Ferro previously won two awards from BroadwayWorld in 2021: Best Supporting Performer in a Play for his role in Oil Lamp’s “Shipwrecked: An Entertainment” and Best Supporting Performer in A Streaming Musical for his performance in Sigman Brothers’ “Rip Van Winkle”.
“Thank you to BroadwayWorld for my third BroadwayWorld Chicago Award this year for a really challenging and out-of-the-box role,” Van Ferro wrote in a Facebook post on January 24, 2023.
“Congratulations as well to Oil Lamp Theater for winning Best Play two years in a row as well as for multiple runner-up placements,” Ferro added.
Ferro’s stage credits include “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “August: Osage Count”y and “Master Class (Act Your Page)”, “Perjured Love and Heart of Fairy (Three Cat),” and Rumpelstiltskin.

“Failure: A Love Story”, starring Ferro, also won Best Play and runner-up honors. Fellow Filipino actor Eugene Dizon finished as a runner-up in the Best Music Direction and Orchestra Performance for Mercury Theater’s “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical”.
Filipina musical theater actress Rachelle Ann Go earlier won the Best Actress award from BroadwayWorld UK.
