The iconic 90s band, Eraserheads, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a remastered Ultraelectromagneticpop! debut album released in limited vinyl edition.
The breakout first major-label album of the indie-pop band from the University of the Philippines (UP), composed of Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro, was released in 1993 under BMG Records.
Ultraelectromagneticpop! heralded the Pinoy indie band era of the 90s with hits “Pare Ko”, “Ligaya”, “Tindahan ni Aling Nena”, and “Toyang” which were first digitized using the facilities of the University of the Philippines Center for Ethnomusicology.
“It was also the album that proved that anyone can make music,” shares The Eraserheads’ Ely Buendia.
The vinyl edition of the Eraserheads’ Ultraelectromagneticpop! was remastered by Grammy Award-winning Bernie Grundman, the renowned audio engineer of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
The remastered album will be released under Sony Music Philippines in partnership with Offshore Music. The vinyl records were pressed at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI) Camarillo in California and packaged using premium quality Old Style Tip-On Gatefold Jackets by Stoughton Printing Company.
Only 2,500 copies of the Eraserheads Ultraelectromagneticpop! 25th Anniversary Numbered Limited Edition vinyl is to be released on November 24 at Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City from 11 AM onwards.
A tribute party coincides with the release with performances and tribute covers from The Itchyworms, Barbie Almalbis, Cheats, Nathan & Mercury, Pinkmen, We Got!, and Nobody’s Home.
The musical legacy of the Eraserheads, including the hit songs of Ultraelectromagneticpop!, was also captured on stage in the musical theatre production of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” which had a two-year extended run at Resorts World Manila starring Menchu Lauchengco and Gian Magdangal.
