Filipino junior boxer Eljay Pamisa finished Top 2 with a silver medal at the 2019 Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Asian Men and Juniors Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
Pamisa, who studied in Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, emerged as the Top 2 among 15 boxers in his division at the ASBC Juniors.
The Cagayan de Oro native battled Vishnavath Suresh of India in the Pinweight Division (44-46kg) finals held on October 17.
The 15-year-old Pamisa went to the finals after besting his Thai opponent in the semifinals on October 16.
Eljay Pamisa is the nephew of National Boxing Team Coach Elmer Pamisa and is trained by coaches Gerson Nietes and Elias Recaido.
Eljay Pamisa’s feat follows the silver medal finish of Eumir Marcial at the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Russia, and the World Featherweight Championship gold won by Nesthy Petecio at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, also in Russia.
