Saint Benilde Romancon Dance Company (SBRDC) of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) will carry the Philippine flag as its representative at the All Generation Championships (AGC) to be held on October 25 to 27 in South Korea.
The DLS-CSB resident dance team known for presenting socially relevant dance performances, specifically neo-classical ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop, will compete in the Adult Category of the AGC competitions at the SK Olympic Handball Stadium in Seoul.
The Benildean dance group was invited by AGC founder Austin Jiseong Heo to join the AGC after meeting the 16-member team at the Hip Hop International.
The college dance company is the 3-peat winner of the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition, bagging multiple gold wins in 2018, 2017, and 2016.
Among the SBRDC’s other international recognition are the following:
- 1st Runner-Up at the Hip Hop International Philippines 2016 in Manila
- Silver Medalist at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship 2015 in San Diego
- 3rd Runner-Up at the World Hip Hop Dance Championship 2014 in Las Vegas
The De La Salle-College of St. Benilde dance team is mentored by Xernan Alfonso.
DLS-CSB’s sister school De La Salle University-Manila also has a winning dance team in La Salle Dance Company – Street (LSDCS), the 81st UAAP Streetdance champions whose Queen-themed performance earned praises from the iconic rock band.
The LSDCS also competed as one of the three Filipino dance teams at the Body Rock California 2019 together with VPeepz, and UPeepz, the University of the Philippines-based dance group which bagged the Silver Medal.
