Filipino-American actor Darren Criss is enjoying his Golden Globes victory as he celebrated with his Filipino mother who brought Pinoy treats for Hollywood’s Best Actor.
Criss tweeted on January 12 about spending time with his Cebuana mother Cerina the morning after receiving his Golden Globes recognition for his role in the American Crime Story series “The Assassination of Gianni Versace.”
The Glee star’s speech on the Golden Globes stage included a dedication of his Best Actor Award to his Filipina mother whom he called “a firecracker…who dreamed of coming to this country and getting invited to glamorous parties like this…”
Criss tweeted, “Well Mom, I’m glad you made it.”
In 2018 Criss celebrated his first acting plum for the same role when he won the Best Actor Emmy at the 70th Television Academy Awards, which he also dedicated to his mother and father, William.
Fil-Am Darren Criss’ two acting trophies signify the first time for both major awards bodies in Hollywood to give the major acting award to an actor of Filipino-American heritage.
