The birth centennial of Manlilikha ng Bayan (MB) Magdalena Gamayo has united a vibrant community to honor the revered master weaver. Under the theme “Ang Inabel ni Magdalena Gamayo: Sinapupunan ng Ugnayang Pampamayanan,” this event marked a historic first—the centennial celebration of a living GAMABA Awardee.
The celebration held on August 13, 2024, at the Plaza del Norte Convention Center, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the provincial government of Ilocos Norte, and the local government of Pinili, transformed the venue into a festive space filled with reverence. Friends, family, fellow weavers, students, and officials gathered to pay tribute to Nana Dalen’s life and contributions to Inabel weaving.
