Cebu Island in the Visayas has been named among the “World’s 25 Trending Destinations” in the 2020 edition of the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards.
Tripadvisor reviewers voted for the island in central Philippines as the 24th Top Trending Destination for world travellers in 2019 released on February 25, 2020. Luzon Island was ranked Top 2 of the World’s Trending Destinations in the same awards.
“From the cosmopolitan metropolis of Cebu City and the white-sand beaches of Mactan to the electric-blue waters of Kawasan Falls and the whale sharks of Oslob, it’s easy to see why Cebu Island is one of the Philippines’ top destinations,” says the Tripadvisor “Best of the Best” list released.
The popular travel website also noted 3 more recommended Don’t-miss-spots in Cebu:
- Casa Gorordo Museum is a heritage house museum located in the historic Parian area of Cebu, the oldest city in the Philippines.
- Tumalog Falls is located in Oslob, Cebu, is also known as “Toslob falls” or “Mag-ambak falls” and is found in barangay Luka.
- Sugbo Mercado is Cebu’s First Weekend Food Market located in the Garden Bloc of the BPO and lifestyle hub of Cebu, the Cebu IT Park in Lahug, where it operates regularly every Thursday to Sunday between 5PM to 1AM.
Cebu was also a top pick for spectacular diving for Lonely Planet readers and editors.
Philippine Airlines has brought back its non-stop flights from Cebu to Los Angeles to serve Visayas and Mindanao areas.
Meanwhile, the upcoming completion of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway is expected to further decongest traffic from Cebu-Mactan Island.
