The Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) year-long celebration of its Golden Jubilee wrapped up on Wednesday with a light and sound showcase of its arts and culture programs.
CCP’s 50th Founding Anniversary show held amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has restricted the staging of live events consisted of a light and sound projection spectacle on its iconic building facade seen from Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, Manila, and streamed live on Facebook and other social media on the night of September 16, 2020.
The CCP show titled SINAG 2020 projected images that represent the center’s excellence in the field of the performing, literary, visual, and multi-media arts, along with its continuing partnership with its regional network.
“The visual content of this light and sound spectacle taps into CCP’s existing digital resources including its Digital Timeline, Visual Arts Collection, and other significant archival footage and recordings to highlight each decade of the CCP,” explained CCP social media about the presentation.
“SINAG 2020 represents the role of arts and culture in the Filipino Past, Present and Future (Kahapon, Ngayon at Bukas),” CCP added.
The CCP marked its Golden Jubilee from 2019 to 2020 in various ways including the introduction of a specially-designed “Baybayan” font for its 50th-anniversary communications, the restaging of the Philippines’ 1st full-length opera Noli Me Tangere, and the holding of the Virgin Labfest lockdown edition that streamed new plays online.
The CCP also held marvelous lights and sound shows to herald the holiday season in 2019.
