Busan International Film Festival’s (BIFF) Asian Contents & Film Market has honored the Philippines’ ABS-CBN with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
ABS-CBN Network was the lone awardee from the Philippines in the South Korean awards event held virtually on YouTube on October 25, 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has restricted live events.
The Philippine network was among the winners of 10 Asian Contents Awards that recognize outstanding television and OTT dramas across Asia.
ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ first television network, had previously won the inaugural Asian Contents Award in 2019. Its TV series Wildflower win for Maja Salvador the Asian Contents Best Actress award.
The 25th Busan International Film Festival is also screening the following Philippine films among the 192 films from 68 countries showcased in the virtual event held from October 21 until October 30:
A Window on Asian Cinema section
– Death of Nintendoby Raya Martin
– Cleaners by Karl Glenn Barit
Asian Short Film Competition of the Wide Angle section
– How to Die Young in Manila by Petersen Vargas
– Kids on Fire by Kyle Nieva
Asian Project Market
– 6th Finger by Sheron Dayoc
The Film Development Council of the Philippines will also be hosting a virtual Philippine Pavilion to promote Filipino films and talents to global markets and audiences with 10 delegate companies: Atom & Anne Mediaworks Corporation, North Luzon Cinema Guild, Inc., VY/AC Productions, Tuldok Animation Studios, Inc., Digital Dreams Inc., Heartleaf Film Production, Rein Entertainment Productions, Go Motion (WeLoveMotion Inc.), MadScientist Media Production, and BLINK Creative Studio.
Another FDCP virtual event during the BIFF is the Philippine Cinema Night to be held on October 27.
