The Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) has recognized the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for responsible stewardship in the conduct of its business, citing the bank’s performance in corporate governance.

BPI Chief Compliance Officer Atty. Maria Paz Garcia and Corporate Governance Officer Don Cesar Teodoro Sevilla II received the award on behalf of the bank.

“This recognition affirms our commitment to our stakeholders and underscores our aspiration to be a center of excellence in corporate governance,” Garcia said.

She added that BPI continues to focus on long-term performance anchored on strong governance practices. “Our goal is to ensure that our risk-adjusted profitability continues to exceed past year’s levels and remains high over the next months, heading into 2026, underpinned by our franchise as a bank that anchors its operations on the highest standards of corporate governance, responsible stewardship and value-driven management,” Garcia said.

Established in 2019, the ICD Golden Arrow Awards recognize listed companies and organizations based on their performance under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS). The awards cover five levels of achievement, represented by one to five golden arrows, depending on a company’s score.

The highest recognition of five arrows is given to companies that score between 115 and 130 points. BPI earned a score in the range of 105 to 114 points, qualifying it for a four-arrow recognition.

With this rating, BPI ranked in the top tier of the ACGS Financial Sector, which covers publicly listed banks in the Philippines. The recognition highlights how governance standards are measured alongside financial performance in evaluating institutions that play a critical role in the country’s financial system.
