Boracay in the Philippines was voted among the World’s Best Islands in this year’s Conde Nast Traveler (CNT) Readers’ Choice Awards.
The popular island resort in the Western Visayas topped the travel destination choices in Asia in the best-of-list ranked by region.
Boracay in the No. 1 spot is joined in the list by Bali, Indonesia (2nd), Koh Samui, Thailand (3rd), Langkawi, Malaysia (4th), and Phuket, Thailand (5th).

Morton adds, “We suspect Boracay’s popularity isn’t going to wane anytime soon” and mentions the island’s rehabilitation to restore its pristine beaches and waters in 2018. Boracay has since reclaimed its Top Islands No. 1 ranking after its reopening in 2019.
CNT recommends: “Boracay’s eastern shores, steady winds make for some of the best kiteboarding and windsurfing conditions in the region.” Boracay is reached through an hour-long flight from Cebu or Manila.
The Best Islands in the World: 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards published on October 25 is based on the votes of almost 250,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers.
The 35th edition of the CNT Readers’ Choice Awards made it to three best-of-listings of the American travel magazine’s respondent readers’ votes submitted between April 1 and June 30 and released in October.
