The Philippines and its premier tourism destinations Boracay, Cebu, and Intramuros received astounding recognition at the recently concluded 31st annual World Travel Awards (WTA).
The Southeast Asian nation proved to be a top choice for tourists in the Asian region, bringing home eight awards from the Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony held on September 3, 2024, at the City of Dreams Manila – Luxury Resort & Casino in Paranaque City.
The Visayan island of Boracay was named Asia’s Leading Luxury Destination while Cebu was recognized as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination. Manila’s centuries-old Walled City of Intramuros was hailed as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction.
The Philippines also picked up its sixth consecutive win as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination and seventh Asia’s Leading Beach Destination award.
The Philippines’ eight awards underscore the successful efforts of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its affiliate, the Tourism Promotions Board Philippines (TPBP), in showcasing the country’s stunning tourism destinations.
Here are the eight awards the Philippines snagged at the World Travel Awards held in the country for the very first time:
- Boracay – Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination 2024
- Cebu – Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination 2024
- Intramuros – Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2024
- Asia’s Leading Beach Destination 2024
- Asia’s Leading Dive Destination 2024

- Love the Philippines – Asia’s Leading Marketing Campaign 2024
- DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco – Transformational Leader Award in Tourism Governance
