The Philippines’ Maricel Balderama has won the Best Actress trophy for her role in Jek Jumawan’s “Hele (Lullaby)” in the Sweden Film Awards.
Balderama was named Best Actress in the May 2020 monthly edition of the Sweden Film Awards for films from across the globe. The monthly winners were announced on June 1 and will vie for the annual event.
“Hele” stars Maricel Balderama and Raymond Murillla together with Sakia Actors Dalisay Hizon, Geh Bautista, Laurence Lauron, Ern Antonio, Pamilyang Nosois, Dominic and Marianita Amacanin, Roma Lobuc Nayalaba, Gabriel, France Angel, at Antonette.
The Bahandi Films offering is a partnership with Madjaw Production and edited by Jose Daniel Domingo.
Balderama had previously received another Best Actress award for the same short film at the 1st Southeast Asian International Achievement Awards given in June 2019.
The Bikolana actress had also received the Best Supporting Actress award at the South Films and Culture awards for her role in another Jek Jumawan film, “Pas-An (Carried Burden)”, in Chile. Pas-An is also vying for top awards at The Lockdown Film Festival.
“Hele” will be screened on Kalinangan TV Facebook page on June 14.
