Bianca Pagdanganan topped the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Qualifying Tournament Stage 1, the first Filipina to lead the United States sporting event.
Pagdanganan will lead the 96 successful players who will advance to the next stage of the qualifiers.
The Asian Games gold medalist for the Philippines bagged the medalist honors at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage on August 25 (August 26 Philippine Time) after outplaying Hira Naveed of Australia.
Pagdanganan played excellently throughout the tournament and made 7 birdies to finish with a 4-under par 68 final round.
“I usually have no expectations coming into a tournament, so I can just do my thing and not put pressure on myself,” said Bianca Pagdanganan in the LPGA report about her performance.
“This week was pretty good, my ball striking was solid and that helped a lot. Also made some putts, especially a decent amount of birdies and just happy with how I concluded this event. As a competitive person, it’s great to see my name at the top of the leaderboard, but I still need to work on a couple things in my game to keep getting better,” the Filipina golfer shared.
Bianca Pagdanganan will next play at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament Stage II on October 14-17 in Venice, Florida on the Panther Course and Bobcat Course at Plantation Golf and Country Club.
Bianca Pagdanganan has been playing world-class golf as part of Team Philippines. She and her teammates stopped the winning streak of Thailand at the 2019 Santi Cup South East Asia Golf Team Championships.
