Actress Bea Alonzo and I Am Hope Organization have improvised face shields and donated medical supplies to protect frontliners who are battling COVID-19.
Bea and I Am Hope Organization shared photos and videos on April 4 and 5, 2020, of their workshop where they created the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) face shields made out of foam, acetate, and garter.
“So, yesterday, we decided to create face shields for the frontliners. Thank you @luckycathy_binag for donating 2,000 raw materials and also for donating 100 gallons of ethyl alcohol. 🙏🏻 It’s hump day for I AM HOPE ORG. today because it’s our first REPACKING DAY at our head quarters!’ Bea wrote in the caption as she thanked her friends for their donations.
“Maliit na tulong ito kumpara sa ginagawa para sa atin ng ating magigiting na frontliners! OUR REAL LIFE HEROES 🙌🏻 Let’s go!” the popular actress added.
Bea and her friends co-founded I Am Hope Organization, a charity organization.
“Our journey begins❣️TOGETHER we can stand behind the Frontliners who sacrifice and dedicate their lives in the battle against COVID.
“Let us be HOPEful, let us pray. Let us do our part, and help save those who save lives” @iamhope_org wrote in its caption of the video.
“A special THANK YOU 🙏 to the I AM HOPE TEAM & HQ Volunteers. Friends who donated, helped, allocated, and generously helped us, a true reflection indeed of their desire to help others. We will remember that you were the first ones who stood alongside with us,” it added.
In the video of @iamhope_org, Bea Alonzo also left a message for the frontliners saying that they are the new heroes.
“Sa ating mga frontliners, kayo po ang bagong mga bayani. Mabuhay po kayo!” Alonzo said.
More groups and individuals have also donated and improvised PPEs for the frontliners.
Palawan eco-artist JC Enon also designed Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Face Shields using plastic bottles or acetate and a few other materials. His YouTube instructional videos can be viewed for free and public use.
Bea’s fellow actress, Angel Locsin and her team set up tent sleeping quarters for health workers of hospitals. Locsin also launched the #UniTENTweStandPH Campaign to set up additional tents for patients in overcrowded hospitals.
Rizal-based designer Michael Leyva and his team created personal protective suits, head covers, and face masks that he created for frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease pandemic.
More ordinary Filipinos with extraordinary good deeds have been honored in the Choose Philippines video.
