Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Bayang Barrios is releasing her new single titled “Atin Lang Ito” via online channels for Philippine Independence Day, incidentally also the lumad artist’s birthday.
The Filipino champion of indigenous culture is set to launch her newest song on June 12, 2021, during a live-streamed performance on Facebook.
“Atin Lang Ito” is the first single from the forthcoming album of Bayang Barrios at ang Naliyagan.
The song composed by Mike Villegas, Bayang’s husband, has been teased on social media, revealing a hauntingly wistful performance of an intimate ballad.
Mike says the song is about secrecy and intimacy and knowing what you want at whatever cost. The love “was not meant to be, but it allowed him to learn to love himself as he reveled in another’s love for him,” adds Mike.
“Pag-ibig na nakita sa isang paraiso na sila lang nakakaalam. Atin lang ito, na nadama ko rin ang pinagdadaanan mo dahil dinaanan ko din ito, namin, or kahit kanino,” adds the Rak of Aegis star.
Bayang refers to it as a healing song amidst all the challenges of life during the pandemic times. “Healing siya dahil sa acceptance na pwedeng mangyari sa kahit strong na ang relationship ninyo. Healing siya dahil nagpaubaya kang maranasan niya na natural na daloy ng emosyon kung ito’y darating sa iyo,” Bayang shares with GoodNewsPilipinas.com.
“Atin Lang Ito” is released independently and will go live on Spotify and YouTube at midnight on Friday to herald Philippine Independence Day. The FB Live Jam is scheduled for June 12 at 2 pm. Check out this page for updates:
