Baguio-born Louie Sangalang has survived the surprise double-elimination on “The Apprentice ONE Championship Edition”.
The Filipino Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion proved himself both tough and sharp as he held his own in the highly competitive mental skirmishes in the boardroom and continues his journey towards “The Goal”.
“Super” Sage Northcutt, the good-looking American professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the Lightweight division of ONE Championship, was the guest athlete in Episode 4 of The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition aired in Manila on April 12, 2021.
Sage led the action-filled physical challenge to the candidates at Sentosa Beach to play a competitive game of bubble soccer and pumped up their energy for the boardroom challenge of pushing their own digital resto brand.
In the boardroom, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, and his Advisor, Niharika Singh, made a tough decision to cut two more candidates from the show.
Louie Sangalang and Teirra Kamolvattanavith led Team Valor’s pitch in the Business Challenge for Creating a Digital Restaurant Brand with their “Seoul Food” which combined Korean flavors with Southern cuisine. Their first dish, “The Breakfast Cluck,” consisted of fried TiNDLE over a potato pancake. Their second dish, “Super Pulled Chick,” featured a pulled TiNDLE barbecue sandwich with sweet potato fries.
Team Valor presented their digital restaurant first, impressing the judges with a solid brand concept. However, the packaging of their product underwhelmed, and Siyodtong pointed out that it did not justify the asking price.
Team Conquest, on the other hand, presented a solid product, and Sityodtong complimented their attention to detail. The product offered premium packaging and featured a much more cohesive concept. But Sityodtong wasn’t impressed with the brand and thought it felt like cheap fast food.
Team Conquest eventually became the episode winner, sending Team Valor to the double-elimination session.
The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition is showing across Asia on AXN, the show’s official Asian broadcast partner, with markets to include Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
The first season of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” consists of 13 episodes and will be seen in the Philippines on Thursdays, 8:50 pm on AXN cable network and on Mondays at 9 p.m. on One Sport.
Louie Sangalang became the first Filipino cancer survivor to finish the North Pole Marathon. In the same year, he completed the inaugural Ironman Philippines and was promoted to BJJ purple belt by Professor Fernando Salvador under the Pedro Sauer BJJ Association. Sangalang now wants to take his business and sports acumen into the boardroom, where he hopes to become Chatri Sityodtong’s apprentice.
Louie Sangalang and fellow Filipino MMA Lara Pearl Alvarez survived the show’s premiere and the following episode before Alvarez bowed out of the competition in Episode 3.
