Former Philippine Azkals’ goalie Neil Etheridge was named Cardiff City’s Best Player of the Season.
The Filipino-British goalkeeper of the Cardiff City Football Club’s Bluebird was honored in ceremonies held on May 5 at Cardiff City Hall.
In October 2018 Etheridge led Cardiff City to winning their first game in its first English Premier League match after winning against Fulham FC in Cardiff City.
The first player of Filipino descent in the premier league marked this football season with his excellent saves – the second most number of saves in the league this season – including a crucial penalty for Cardiff City in stoppage time for a goalless draw with Newcastle United in April.
With the massive support and votes from the fans, Neil Etheridge won the player of the season award. On Twitter Etheridge posted his thanks for the recognition given by the people of Cardiff City.
