Australian pop-rock band, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), surprised their Filipino fans as they posted a video of them riding the iconic Philippine jeepney in Manila.
The four-man band composed of Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, and Ashton Irwin toured Manila on board the local jeepney before they held their “Just Woke Up In Manila” show at the New Frontier Theater on July 11.
The Australian pop-rock band behind the hit songs “She Looks Perfect,” “Amnesia,” and “Youngblood” shared their Pinoy ride experience in the video shot by Dusty Kessler.
5SOS guitarist Luke Hemmings was seen on the video saying that they are going to the Philippines’ most popular restaurant chain, Jollibee, “because that’s what we do because we’re Filipino.”
The band’s drummer, Ashton Irwin, also expressed his love for the Philippines in an Instagram post by saying, “I love the Philippines. I love seeing all the happy faces here and witnessing the way they love music. Today in Manila we visited 3 radio stations, did a bunch of promotion for easier and met some 5SOS fans. Then we rode on a Jeepney back to the hotel.” In 2017, popular British band Coldplay also rode a jeepney on their way to their “A Head Full of Dreams” concert at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
5SOS fans expressed their happiness on social media after seeing their favorite band immersing in different Filipino cultures. Their Instagram post already has 487,125 views and 6,525 comments as of this writing.
