Asia’s style icon Heart Evangelista is turning Sorsogon’s Pili Nuts into new local “gems” as fashion items and home decorations.
The Filipino actress, and first lady of the Bicol, is crafting pretty things out of the abundant resources in the province such as placemats, curtain drapes, and other home decor accessories.
Evangelista, known for designing luxury bags, has even created a new handbag made of the local nut product.
The actress, whose husband is Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, proudly shared on social media about the new local products.
“Pili is the gem of Sorsogon. 🌳 You can do so much with it! ❤️,” said Heart in her Instagram post on July 11, 2020.
The actress also posted a photo of a local craftsman teaching her how to upcycle the pili nuts.
“My beautiful and hardworking friend showing me how they were able to upcycle the pili nuts and turn them into something useful,” Heart wrote in the caption.
Heart Evangelista also gave a glimpse of what to expect in her #LoveMariexSorsogon home and decor products to help out her fellow Sorsogueños and showcase their talents.
“Home and decor products for #LoveMarieXSorsogon will soon be available. Can’t wait to share their talent with you!” added the GMA Network artist.
With her wide influence, these Pili Nut crafts will definitely be a hit just like her other projects.
The Filipino actress is not only known for her glamour and artistry but also for her philanthropic acts.
Her new project, Big Heart PH, is providing students with educational tools for the “new normal” of schooling amid the COVID 19 pandemic.
