In a remarkable achievement for Filipino environmental advocacy, Antoinette Taus, a Filipina actor-host, has been honored with the Special Prize at the 2023 Green Awards, part of the prestigious GreenTech Festival (GTF) in Singapore. This award further cements Taus’s role as a global environmental leader and influencer who uses her fame for a greener future.
A United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Goodwill Ambassador, Taus, earned this recognition for her exceptional efforts in promoting environmental sustainability. Her notable work includes founding Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA), a volunteer-driven non-profit tackling critical issues like hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate change. CORA’s initiatives primarily focus on aiding vulnerable groups, including schools, women, and the youth.
The Green Awards jury commended Taus for her “unwavering devotion” and significant impact in addressing sustainability’s social aspects. Through CORA and The Sustainable Planet project, Taus has been instrumental in enhancing living conditions for at-risk and indigenous communities in the Philippines.

Taus’s win highlights the vital role of individuals and organizations in driving eco-friendly changes globally.
Taus, also a National Geographic Asia’s Changemaker for “Planet Possible,” hosts “The Podcast of Plastic” and anchors shows like “Emerging Energy” and “Where To Next?” on CNN Philippines, using these platforms to amplify her advocacy.
Her achievement joins a series of accolades for Filipino environmental efforts, including Liter of Light’s Green Award for Energy (2021, London), Green Destinations Story Awards for Sagay and Bago cities (2023), and the inclusion of ten Philippine universities in the GreenMetric World University Ranking (2023).
