Filipino celebrity Anne Curtis has successfully conquered the 2023 Tokyo Marathon to raise funds for vulnerable women and children in the Philippines.
The children’s welfare advocate said she couldn’t help getting emotional after finishing one of Asia’s largest marathons.
“Every single kilometre was worth it, knowing I was running to help Filipino children heal and recover through the funds WE (yes, this includes every single one of you that donated) raised together,” Anne Curtis shared in an Instagram post on March 5, 2023.
“Being a mother, now as well, I couldn’t help but get emotional when I crossed that finish line,” Curtis added.
Curtis proudly posed with her medal as a Tokyo Marathon finisher in Japan in the Instagram post, adding that her new milestone was “dedicated to the Filipino Youth”.
Curtis completed the run in four hours and 50 minutes, a new personal record for the actress. She also shared a video of Filipinos proudly waving the Philippine flag and cheering her on in the race.
Curtis earlier announced that she is once again running for a cause after doing several marathons to help children’s causes through United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The UNICEF Philippines National Goodwill Ambassador has raised over 727,000 pesos in donations for her fundraiser as of this writing.
The fundraiser will help create satellite centers in select barangays known as “TeleCPUs,” which are one-stop centers that provide “medical evaluation, psychosocial services, and legal services for abused women and children.”
The Filipina celebrity has pledged to match the full amount raised by generous donors through her campaign.
Donors have until April 7, 2023, to donate and help Curtis reach her goal of 1,000,000 pesos in donations for UNICEF.
