Angel Locsin’s reel-and-real life Darna character has inspired a mural on a condominium painted by AG Saño’s Art Atak team to honor frontliners of the battle against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The mural of Darna dressed up as a frontliner health worker wearing a scrub suit, stethoscope, and a face mask was painted on a condominium building along Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.
The Forbes Hero of Philanthropy posted an Instagram photo on May 18, 2020, of the “Hero in disguise” mural by AG Saño and wrote in the caption that she was honored to be the inspiration for the painting.
“Isang malaking karangalang maging inspiration mo sa pagpinta, AG Saño, at salamat sa patuloy na pagbibigay ng inspirasyon through your artwork. Nagkita na tayo dati sa La Luna Sangre, I remember because you are remarkable like your craft. Keep it up!” wrote Locsin.
Known as the real-life Pinoy superheroine “Darna” which she portrayed in films, Locsin also wrote how thankful she is to the frontliners, “To our brave frontliners, kayo po ang real-life superheroes and thanking you for your selfless service isn’t just enough. Maraming-maraming salamat sa inyo.”
The Darna Frontliner mural photo by Jire Carreon shows artists hanging and rappeling at the side of a condominium building as they paint the image of Darna.
“A Filipino superhero character, in scrub suit and wearing a mask to honor the health workers and frontliners for their continued service and dedication in the battle to overcome the covid19 pandemic,” captioned Carreon on Instagram.
“The Art Attack artist group headed by AG Saño pays tribute to all our heroes in the time of the health crisis,” Carreon added.
Angel Locsin has been helping frontliners and assisted in COVID-19 relief efforts in the Philippines. She recently wrapped up her #UniTENTweStandPH campaign after raising over 11 million pesos to set up tent sleeping quarters for health workers and other frontliners who could not go home due to the community quarantine to stop the spread of COVID 19 as well as hospital tents for patients in overcrowded hospitals.
Angel Locsin is again poised to resume her humanitarian aid fundraising, this time with Anne Curtis and the Shop and Share team, to help in efforts to conduct coronavirus mass testing in the Philippines.
In 2019, AG Saño collaborated with Security Bank to transform the pedestrian underpass to a sanctuary of Philippine terrestrial and marine creatures with the message of hope for a brighter future for Filipinos.
