Seacrest, a popular American radio personality, hosted the annual New Year’s Eve television special broadcast on ABC which featured big celebrities such as Post Malone, Dua Lipa, Kelsea Ballerini, Green Day, Jonas Brothers, and Korean pop idol group, BTS.
America’s annual celebration of New Year’s Eve would not be complete without the Ball Drop, also held at New York City’s Times Square, where the 11,875-pounds ball drops at midnight which signifies the start of the New Year.
This year’s theme for the New Year’s Eve bash is Climate Change, one of the biggest issues in the year 2019.
The previous Ball Drop in 2018 paid a special tribute to press freedom and featured prominent journalists from around the world as guests, including Filipino-American journalist and Rappler’s CEO Maria Ressa, who was honored as the 2018 TIME Person of the Year.
Last January 8, 2019, Ryan Seacrest joined Kelly Ripa in interviewing 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray from the Philippines in their shows Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Ryan.
