Teen Filipino netter, Alexandra “Alex” Eala has surged to the Top 9 of the World Tennis Tour Juniors Rankings in the latest report by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Alex Eala took her spot in the top 10 ITF rankings released January 13, 2020, with 1452.5 points scored in 22 games she played in 2019.
With this achievement, Alex Eala continues to hold the distinction of being the highest-ranking Southeast Asian in the ITF rankings.
Eala first made the Top 13 in the same rankings in October 2019, surging 14 notches up, after her silver medal finish battling top seeded Diane Parry at the Osaka Mayor’s Cup in Japan.
The Top 9 World Tennis Junior star led Team Philippines in winning the 2019 Asia-Oceania Championship held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Alex Eala also had a winning season in 2018 bagging the Les Petits As Under14 in her opening tourney and ended the year receiving the Tennis Europe the award for the Best Overseas Player of the Year with an impressive 88% of wins in 12 tournaments played.
Alex Eala, who turns 15 in May this year, is a student and trainee at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar in Spain.
Rafa Nadal Academy congratulated the teenager on their Facebook page posting: “In 2018 Alex Eala finished the year 248 in the #WorldTennisTour ITF ranking. After a spectacular 2019…She is in one of the TOP 10 best junior players in the world! MABUHAY‼️ VAMOS‼️”.
Many Netizens also congratulated the teen Filipino tennis star, with Oscar Gomez posting on the comments: “Congratulations Alex👏🙏this is the reward of all your hard work and dedication to tennis🤛💪👍May God bless with strength and perseverance all throughout the years ahead🙏😇❤️”
