Filipino actor Alden Richards was awarded the Asian Star Prize at the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards held tonight in South Korea.
Richards personally accepted the recognition “for Asian talents widely beloved by Korean audiences” at the awarding ceremonies held at the Hall of Peace in Kyunghee University.
Accepting his new international award, Alden Richards said he was humbled and grateful to be awarded along with international talents.
“This award is extra special because it comes at a time when we are celebrating 70 years of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea,” Richards added.
“It’s always our hope to make people happy and inspire them with our passion. Thank you,” said Alden Richards, known for giving back to his fans, as he wrapped up his speech.
Alden Richards is currently making headlines around the world with his KathDen screen partner Kathryn Bernardo, for the blockbuster movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” a romantic drama about the life of Overseas Filipino Workers in Hong Kong. Prior to his new screen tandem, Alden Richards has been the popular half of the phenomenal AlDub with Maine Mendoza.
The 14th Seoul International Drama Awards, organized by the Seoul Drama Awards Committee and aired live by the Korean Broadcasters Association, recognizes television and film content from 50 countries that help “heal the wounds and pain of conflicts” of cultural differences.
Alden Richards’ was the recipient of the Gold Camera Award from the 50th US International Film and Video Festival in New York for his work on the Filipino documentary drama, “Alaala (Memory)”.
Alden Richards is one of the two recipients of the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards. In 2016, Dennis Trillo was one of the six recipients of the 11th edition of the Asian Star Prize.
